/  Uncategorized   /  7 Fashion Rules that the Bride can totally break

Brides at weddings are under a whole lot of stress to look the best they can. Besides that, they are also really conscious about their looks. After all, it is her big day. However, sometimes you may not want to follow all the fashion rules. Although, it may seem controversial at first, there are certain fashion traditions are totally cool to break. We are living in the 21st century and as long as you can pull it off, you can surely wear it. After all, rules are meant to be broken right? So we have rounded up 7 fashion rules that the bride can totally break!

1. Wear colour

It’s traditional to have that elegant white flowing dress at your wedding. However, some brides don’t feel that way. Their need to be dramatic or unique drives them to look for unique wedding dresses in various colours. Yes, not everyone is doing it, but wedding dress designers won’t be surprised if you ask them for a gothic black wedding dress or a pink wedding gown. In fact many episodes of ‘say yes to the Dress’ actually feature beautiful brides choosing dresses of colour and convincing their families of their choice. It does look stunning. After all, it is your day to begin your new life together as husband and wife.

2. Only the bride can wear white

Another fashion rule regarding colour is that no one else should wear white at the wedding as this may clash with the bride’s outfit. You can totally break this rule now. Many brides actually opt for white gowns for her bridesmaids to signify that connection between them. It’s a bride’s wish to experiment with her choices and opt for colours she thinks will go well. In short, the dress colour code is one rule that you can fashionably break and stand out in style!

3. Your bridesmaids should all be wearing same style dress

Every bride wants her bridesmaids to look picture perfect, and to achieve that, you better go for mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses. The same dress will not fit all styles, shapes and sizes, so going with mismatched dresses will assure everyone looking their best. Pick a colour palette and make sure that they all have the same hem to have an overall cohesive look.

4. Only the one dress style for the big day

With the advent of social media, seems the brides of today want more and more, in that they want to stand out from the crowd and be that bride that goes viral on Insta with the most perfect wedding gown. To get this look, we have found brides wanting a separate look to their first appearance they have shown their guests down the alter. Brides are adding over skirts to their slim fitting gowns to create another look. As well as have detachable sleeves and decolletage’s. Some are even having a separate wedding dress altogether so they have a new look at the reception or when they leave the venue.

5. Don’t mix metals

It is often heard that you may wear silver or gold separately but not together. Well, that is one thing that you can let go for sure. In today’s era, it is all about mixing metals to create drama. You can conveniently mix your silver rings with your gold wedding ring or pair yellow gold with white gold and so on. It looks classy and stylish and goes with almost every style. You don’t have to worry about the bling on your dress either. Rest assured, your jewels will go marvelously with your dress even if they are studded with different metals.

6. A veil is the only must accessory

We have to disagree on this one. Nowadays, pretty tiaras, head pieces and flower combs really stand out. If you are looking for a fairytale wedding or a really stylish ceremony, these options are open for you to delve in. You don’t have to just have a veil. Instead simply choose the style that you like and wear it with confidence. Enjoy your big day with your fashion choices!

7. Wear heels

This fashion rule is a myth, you may wear flats, wedges, platforms or any other kind of formal shoes as you wish. They will look spectacular. Wear a pair of blue sandals as your “something blue,” or go for white sneakers for comfy happy feet!

Yes, heels have their own statement, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to opt for them. Explore your own fashion sense and choose some great styles for your wedding. The vast majority of the time your feet won’t be shown due to the length of the gown, except when the traditional garter is taken off your leg. What’s most important is that you are comfortable and content with all the arrangements and fashion choices. You are the bride after all!
