TIPS FOR TRAVELLING WITH YOUR WEDDING DRESS IN TOW

It’s easy to get caught up in the thrill and excitement of planning a destination wedding. The beautiful sights you’ll see. The spectacular photos you’ll take. The life-long memories you’ll make. But many brides don’t think about how to get their delicate (and heavy!) gowns from A to B until the very last minute – causing a bit of a pre-wedding freak-out (oops!). Here’s the inside scoop on how to make sure your dress makes it to its destination safely.

Keep your eyes on the prize

Umm… we don’t know about you, but having the dress go missing in checked baggage is in our top 3 worst nightmares of all time! To make sure this doesn’t happen, check whether your dress can fit in the cabin container. If it does, this is the best case scenario because you’ll have your gown on board with you.

Garment bag in the closet

Ask the staff to (kindly!) place your dress in the closet for you. This is risky, because you’re obviously dependent on the good graces of whoever is on board that day – so make sure to have your best pleading smile on! Fortunately, even if the front closet is full – you can still fold your garment bag in half to reduce wrinkling and lay it down it in the overhead bin. Phew.

Buy your dress a plane ticket

No, we’re not crazy! There are lots of brides who buy a full seat for their gowns to ensure they stay in premium condition during the flight. The good news? You only need a one-way ticket, because you probably won’t be as concerned about your gown’s appearance on the way back.

Pack a portable steamer!

Sure, your hotel or resort will probably be able to steam your dress for you. BUT when it comes to your wedding day, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

There you have it: wedding dress flight survival 101. Because as if wedding planning wasn’t stressful enough! We wish you (and your dress) safe travels.
